Allergen information
Last updated 8 September 2026
If you have a food allergy or intolerance, please tell us before you order — call 01582 967192 or message 07344 878762. We will talk you through exactly what is in a dish.
How our kitchen works
Every dish at DASARA is cooked to order in a single kitchen. We use shared equipment, shared fryers and shared work surfaces, and all fourteen regulated allergens are present in our kitchen.
That means we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from any allergen, even where it is not an ingredient. Traces can transfer. We would rather tell you this honestly than give you false reassurance about a severe allergy.
If your allergy is severe, please speak to us on the phone before ordering so we can tell you frankly whether we can serve you safely.
The 14 regulated allergens
UK law requires food businesses to tell you if a dish contains any of these:
- Cereals containing gluten — wheat, rye, barley, oats
- Crustaceans — including prawns
- Eggs
- Fish
- Peanuts
- Soybeans
- Milk
- Nuts — almonds, cashews, pistachios and others
- Celery
- Mustard
- Sesame
- Sulphur dioxide and sulphites
- Lupin
- Molluscs
Where to find it for each dish
Every dish on our online menu is tagged with the allergens it contains, shown on the dish itself as you build your order. You do not have to ask.
For anything not listed there — a special, a change we have made, or a question about how something is cooked — please call us. Our staff have the full ingredient information for every dish and are happy to go through it.
Common things worth knowing
- Most of our biryanis, pulavs and mandi are finished with dairy, and several include nuts.
- Our starters are typically battered (gluten) and many contain soya.
- Prawn dishes are cooked in the same kitchen as everything else.
- Vegetarian on our menu means no meat or fish — it does not mean free from dairy, egg, gluten or nuts.
Telling us about an allergy
Please do not rely only on the notes box when you order online. For any allergy, call us before or straight after placing the order so a person has heard it and can check the dish with the kitchen. We would much rather have the conversation than get it wrong.
